April 9, 2026

Automotive company TOPSUN announced a $55 million investment in León, Guanajuato, with the creation of 800 jobs, reinforcing the city’s position as a strategic hub for the manufacturing industry in Mexico.

This project adds to the economic momentum that has characterized León in recent years, where the arrival of new companies reflects strong competitiveness, infrastructure, and specialized talent—key factors driving the expansion of the automotive sector.

Automotive investment strengthens industrial development in León

The installation of the plant at the PILBA Industrial Park confirms the ongoing trend of operations relocating to the Bajío region, which continues to attract foreign direct investment due to its integration into global supply chains.

During a site visit, municipal authorities highlighted that this investment will have a direct impact on local economic development by generating formal employment and strengthening the municipality’s industrial base.

TOPSUN selects León as a growth platform in Mexico

From a business perspective, TOPSUN acknowledged the institutional support received to establish its operations in León, noting that coordination with local authorities facilitated the project’s development from its early stages.

The company, founded in China in 2012, specializes in the production of decorative interior components for the automotive industry and serves global clients such as General Motors, BMW, Volkswagen, and Mercedes-Benz. This positions its Mexican operation within a high-value industrial network.

Three years ago, the company decided to expand into the Mexican market and selected León as the location for its first plant outside China, a decision driven by the municipality’s competitive advantages in logistics and human capital.

In addition, the company indicated that it is considering future expansion phases in the city, opening the possibility of increasing production capacity and generating additional jobs in the medium term.

With investments like this, León continues to strengthen its profile as a reliable destination for the global automotive industry, consolidating an environment that promotes collaboration between companies and authorities, as well as sustained economic development.
