Teklas Automotive global competitors pleased with Aguascalientes

Teklas Automotive is a company from Turkish origin, of the automotive division, dedicated to the manufacturing of engine connection systems, which is committed with quality and competitiveness.
The private and family company was founded in Turkey in 1971, it is located in the San Francisco IV Industrial Park, and it is the first one in being settled in Mexico and in the American continent. Its objective is to incur within the American market in order to continue growing.
Its plant manager, Arcan Ergur, said exclusively to Mexico Industry that the company started its construction in the middle of 2016, with an investment of 82.5 million pesos; the first year was dedicated to the construction of the industrial building and facilities, which were ready on December 2017. The company currently has 125 employees.
Ergur, also explained that they have anticipated an expansion in the next four years, what will take Teklas to occupy 50 thousand square meters, currently their facilities dimensions are of 10,800 square meters. In addition, he added that the corporate is planning to continue growing in Mexico in the next 10 years: “probably in Aguascalientes,” he ended.
In Teklas Automotive are manufacture all kind of connection systems, the electric systems connectors, breaks, among other specialties. In their first project it is anticipated to produce a million pieces this year, although the plant located in Turkey produces 120 million, to what Ergur explained: “it is normal, it is a very new company and with time we will expand our production to reach the production from companies in other countries.”
The plant manager mentioned that its main customers are Volkswagen and Audi in Puebla, for which they send 85 % of their products, likewise, their upcoming customers will be General Motors and Daimler in different projects which are already planned. This new project will demand 40 % of their production, which will be exported to the United States and the rest will be for customers located in the country.
As it is a global competence company, Teklas keeps at technological Forefront, Ergur detailed: “We invest a lot in technology, we are following the trends of industry 4.0, incurring in automation and robotization of the production line.”
Among its processes are plastic injection and water injection, which is a process of the highest technology ; They have processes that are completely automated and robotized assemblies, they have quality control in their entire process.
The first phase for Teklas in Mexico, was to concrete their settlement and production, today the next step, as the plant manager explained, is to locate suppliers in the country, which currently they observe the 10 % of its supplies, the intention is that this percentage increases up to 50 %, mainly for their plastic and metal components, for this technical validations, quality testing and plant testing are necessary.
90 % of the Turkish company supplies are from Europe, since they have to approve and guarantee the process and products quality of their suppliers around the world, “this is a promise to our customers” the manager said, “Europe, China, Mexico are always providing the highest technology and better quality,” he explained.
After their first six productive months in Aguascalientes, the manager said: “There will be many reasons to be installed in Aguascalientes, and today we can say that it was the correct decision,” he emphasizes in that the main competitive advantage of the State is its location, since it places them near their current and potential customers such as Volkswagen, Audi, GM, Daimler. In addition that they have several and good parks for companies such as Teklas.
Another reason that encouraged the Turkish corporate to settled in Aguascalientes was its young population, which supplies recently graduates ready to work, who have demonstrated to have passion for the automotive industry. A third reason that incentivized the company to install in the State is that it is an area without earthquake risk.
