Coahuila-based company Grupo GIASA inaugurated the GEMMSA Estructuras Metálicas plant in Saltillo, a project that required an investment of more than 600 million pesos in its first phase. The new facility strengthens the industrial capacity of the state’s southeastern region and reflects the continuity of private investment projects in Coahuila, even amid international economic uncertainty.
GEMMSA Strengthens Coahuila’s Industrial Capacity
During the inauguration, Governor Manolo Jiménez Salinas emphasized that the opening of the plant sends a message of confidence to domestic and international investors. He stated that the state maintains favorable conditions in terms of security, labor stability, rule of law, skilled labor, and availability of services, all of which strengthen Coahuila’s competitiveness in attracting new industrial projects.
The governor said that collaboration among society, the private sector, and the government has helped consolidate Coahuila as one of Mexico’s leading investment destinations.
“Today, we reiterate our commitment to working with all our strength to ensure that this state continues to offer the best conditions for development,” he said while acknowledging Grupo GIASA’s confidence in expanding its operations.
Company Highlights Confidence in Investing in Saltillo
Grupo GIASA CEO Humberto Elizalde Serrano explained that the decision to establish one of the country’s most modern structural steel plants in Saltillo was based on the security and certainty offered by the state for the development of industrial projects. He added that Coahuila’s economic performance reflects the collaborative work between government authorities and the business sector.
As part of the economic context, the governor noted that Coahuila ranks second nationwide in security and that Saltillo, Torreón, and Piedras Negras are among the six safest cities in the country. He also stated that a recent study by INEGI ranked the state first nationwide in quality of life, indicators that support its attractiveness for new investment.
The opening of GEMMSA Estructuras Metálicas strengthens the presence of a Coahuila-based company in a strategic sector for manufacturing and industrial construction. The new plant increases the group’s production capacity and contributes to job creation and economic development in the state’s southeastern region.
The project confirms that Coahuila continues to offer favorable conditions for productive investment and reinforces the growth trend of the state’s manufacturing industry, with projects promoted by both international companies and local businesses that continue to expand their operations.
