Japanese automotive component manufacturer Daido Metal México has announced a 1billion MXN ($50+ million USD) investment to significantly expand its operations in Tlajomulco de Zúñiga, Jalisco. The project entails the construction of a brand-new industrial building and the installation of advanced production machinery to scale the company's automotive manufacturing capabilities.

The capitalal location is evenly split, with 500 million MXN dedicated to physical infrastructure and 500 million MXN allocated for cutting-edge equipment. Construction has already commenced on the expansion site located along the San Isidro highway, with project completion slated for December 2027.

Strengthening Global Automotive Supply Chains

Backing nearly 87 years of international history and over a decade of continuous operations in Tlajomulco, this latest milestone marks a pivotal growth phase for Daido Metal. The facility expansion will optimize operational bandwidth, refine core production workflows, and integrate modern technologies tailored to the stringent demands of the global automotive sector.

"The construction of our second plant in Mexico constitutes a strategic investment for the future of the company and a key opportunity to strengthen our international growth," stated Tomomitsu Furukawa, President and Chief Operating Officer of Daido Metal Co.

Furukawa emphasized that the project is the result of close technical and operational collaboration among teams across Mexico, Japan, and the United States. Beyond manufacturing output, the expansion will create new direct employment opportunities, reinforcing the company's 15-year footprint in Mexico.

Jalisco Cements Its Appeal for Japanese Industrial Investment

The expansion of Daido Metal further validates Tlajomulco's rising prominence as a strategic industrial hub. The municipality offers key competitive advantages, including robust logistical connectivity, territorial availability, and close proximity to the Guadalajara International Airport.

During the official groundbreaking ceremony, Tlajomulco Mayor Gerardo Quirino Velázquez Chávez commended Daido Metal’s decision to reinvest in the municipality 15 years after establishing its initial facility.

"The permanence and expansion of global enterprises reflect the ideal conditions our region offers for long-term industrial projects," Velázquez Chávez noted.

With construction scheduled to conclude by December 2027, Daido Metal's expanded campus will not only solidify its production presence in Mexico but also deepen Jalisco's integration into the North American automotive supply chain.
