Volvo Group revealed its plan to establish a new heavy-duty truck manufacturing plant in Mexico to supplement its production in the United States. This move aligns with the group's efforts to expand production capacity and support the growth plans of Volvo Trucks and Mack Trucks in the markets of the U.S., Canada, Mexico, and Latin America.

The new plant, set to commence operations in 2026, will join the company's key North American heavy-duty truck production centers, including the Mack LVO plant in Pennsylvania and the Volvo NRV plant in Virginia. These facilities have played a crucial role in the group's expansion strategy, having invested over $73 million in the past five years and currently earmarking an additional $80 million for future productions.

Spanning approximately 1.7 million square feet, the new plant in Mexico will focus on producing conventional heavy-duty vehicles for the Volvo and Mack brands. It will serve as a comprehensive assembly facility for conventional vehicles, encompassing the production and painting of cab bodies in white.

Logistical Efficiency and Industrial Strength

The decision to expand production in Mexico will not only provide logistical efficiencies to support sales in the southwestern and western U.S., Mexico, and Latin America but will also bolster the group's supply and production ecosystem. This strategy enhances Volvo Group's resilience and flexibility in its North American industrial footprint, solidifying its position as an automotive industry leader.

With the new plant in Mexico, Volvo Group underscores its commitment to the region's economic growth while aiming to strengthen its competitiveness and presence in the North American market.
