Safran Invests $7.4 Million in New Aerospace Plant in Chihuahua

Safran Electrical & Power ISA inaugurated its fifth plant in the city of Chihuahua and the company’s 13th facility in the state, with an investment of $7.4 million and the expected creation of 800 jobs. The project expands the company’s industrial capacity and strengthens Mexico’s presence within the global aerospace supply chain.

The opening marks 35 years of Safran operations in Chihuahua, where the company employs more than 10,500 people. During the ceremony, Governor Maru Campos emphasized that the new investment reflects the continued confidence of the business community in the state. “More than generating jobs and investment, this represents the renewal, realization, and reaffirmation of investors’ confidence in the state of Chihuahua,” she said.

Safran Expands Its Aerospace Production Capacity

The Electrical & Power division operates a strategic aerospace manufacturing operation in Chihuahua, with a workforce of 5,300 people. This business unit produces 95 percent of the electrical wiring used in the Boeing 787 Dreamliner and is home to Safran’s largest aircraft wiring manufacturing center worldwide.

The project strengthens Chihuahua’s position as Mexico’s aerospace platform, as the state accounts for 36 percent of the sector’s national gross output. Safran’s expansion adds production capacity, specialized employment, and continuity to an industrial operation linked to international aerospace programs.

New Plant to Operate with 100% Green Energy

The new facilities will operate using 100 percent green energy and will feature electric climate-control systems as part of the company’s strategy to reduce its carbon footprint. This component incorporates energy-efficiency standards into the expansion of the company’s production operations in Mexico.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by Olivier Andriès, CEO of Safran; Delphine Borione, Ambassador of France to Mexico; Alejandro Cardona Seemann, CEO of Safran Mexico; and Gabriel Morales, Executive Vice President of Safran Chihuahua, as well as representatives from the state’s business and economic sectors.

With the new facility, Safran is further strengthening its industrial presence in Chihuahua and expanding a production base that already supports more than 10,500 jobs. The investment also reinforces Mexico’s role in high-value aerospace manufacturing, with specialized operations involving electrical systems and aircraft wiring for global aviation programs.
