During the official announcement, Guanajuato Governor Libia Dennise García Muñoz Ledo highlighted that the state has already reached 50% of its six-year investment attraction goal, with more than US$4 billion committed through 56 industrial projects representing more than 14,000 jobs. The governor noted that Kromberg & Schubert’s expansion confirms the confidence of international capital in the state’s manufacturing capacity.
The investment includes new projects for the company’s plant in Irapuato, Guanajuato, linked to BMW’s operations in San Luis Potosí, as well as the expansion of its plastic injection plant in San Francisco del Rincón, Guanajuato, where the company will nearly double its operating capacity. The company participates as a component supplier for premium vehicles, including the Mercedes-Benz S-Class, one of the German company’s flagship models.
Guanajuato strengthens its appeal for German investment
The governor emphasized that Germany has consolidated its position as Guanajuato’s third-largest investment partner, a relationship that has strengthened industrial value chains and expanded the presence of European companies in strategic sectors such as automotive and advanced manufacturing. She also highlighted the project’s social impact, as 90% of Kromberg & Schubert’s workforce in the state is from Guanajuato, while 60% are women.
For his part, Raúl León, Technical Director of the Kromberg & Schubert plant, said the new investment reaffirms the company’s confidence in Mexico and particularly in Guanajuato. He explained that the expansion will increase production capacity and meet new demands from the global automotive industry from Mexico’s Bajío region.
Kromberg & Schubert’s expansion reinforces Guanajuato’s position as one of the country’s main industrial hubs, especially in automotive manufacturing and specialized supply. The growth of global companies in the region also strengthens supply chains linked to nearshoring and premium vehicle production for North America.
