Nuevo Leon has highest Chinese investment in 2018
The Ministry of Economy and Labor in Nuevo Leon (SEDET, by its Spanish initials) has kept the objective to position the State as an ideal destination for foreign investments due to its talented people, institutional robustness and business ecosystem innovation.
This effort to narrow commercial relations translated in that investment coming from such Asian country to Nuevo Leon grew 842 % compared to 2017, capturing a total of 31.09 million dollars, unlike the 3.3 million captured the year before.
Although this only represents 1 % of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) captured in Nuevo Leon during 2018, growth shows a favorable trend for upcoming years, therefore it is expected that for 2019 the number of visitors from Chinese delegations is superior.
During 2018 more than 25 business delegations from China were received, more than any other visitor country and such number has been intensified in the last months, receiving an average of one to two Chinese companies per week in the entity.
In addition, the Ministry has fulfilled five commercial missions to Asia since the third quarter of 2015, where they have gathered with companies interested on investing in Nuevo Leon, of which some are already successfully operating in the State.
The main cities in which meetings took place are Shanghai, Beijing, Hangzhou and Qingdao.
According to the National Registry of Foreign Investments of the Ministry of Federal Economy, 28 Mexican societies operate in Nuevo Leon with Chinese investment in their capital.
